24/7 CRISIS RESPONSE

If this is an emergency, please call 911.

Taking legal action after abuse can feel overwhelming, and you do not have to walk the journey alone.

The Hotline Outer Banks' Victim Assistance Court Advocacy Program supports individuals seeking to file or renew 50B Domestic Violence Protective Orders (DVPOs) or 50C No Contact Orders after experiencing assault, threats, or stalking. Our advocates provide guidance, information, and a steady presence to help you understand your options and navigate the legal system, which can feel complex, intimidating, and sometimes be re-traumatizing.

While Hotline Outer Banks does not provide legal advice, advocates explain court procedures, help prepare paperwork, and connect you with trusted resources such as Legal Aid, law enforcement, and translation services when needed.

Above all, our advocates walk beside you throughout the legal process — accompanying you to civil and criminal hearings, answering questions, offering emotional support, and helping you feel more confident each step of the way. We can also assist with order modifications and help file violations if an abuser makes contact.

Every situation is unique. Our goal is to help you regain a sense of control, safety, and stability while empowering you to make the decisions that are right for you and your family.
